Community-Building With Our Associates

It’s About All The People

We grow the best-tasting tomatoes because we have the best Associates. Learn more about how we give back to the Associates who make it all possible.

UPOP

NatureSweet fosters a company culture that encourages result-oriented performance measures and strives to provide associates with the skills and resources needed to deliver results. This includes providing workplace training, bonuses to incentivize achievements and adult education programs, and contributing to local communities.

Social Responsibility

Through the work of the locally led Social Responsibility Committees, NatureSweet’s associates continue to prioritize engagement in their communities, including improving local schools, assisting orphans and seniors, and participating in community recycling programs.

In total, NatureSweet associates in Mexico volunteered more than 7,300 hours and increased the amount spent on community projects by 137 percent. Importantly, associates are empowered to identify and select specific programs that address the unique needs of their communities.

Education

It’s important to invest in our Associates’ education, because that leads to both empowerment and greater job satisfaction. We believe having the ability to read shouldn’t be taken for granted, so we have reduced the rate of illiteracy within our workforce; though it is already low by industry standards, we’re quickly approaching our goal to eliminate it within our company.

We have implemented a program called INEA- (National Institute for Adult Education) at our Zapotlan facility, which offers literacy levels of Elementary School, Middle School and High School. Since 2005, we have had 835 students graduate from all levels of the program.

Recognition

NatureSweet was awarded the Leadership 500 Excellence Award in 2014, which is a credit to the work and commitment of NatureSweet associates as a whole.

Scholarships

NatureSweet continues to offer continuing education opportunities for all associates in its Mexico facilities. In total, 110 associates graduated from elementary, middle and high school through adult-education programs such as INEA and PrepaNet from Tec de Monterrey.

Literacy Programs

NatureSweet is proud of an important educational program, the Take-A-Book Campaign, which gives books to Associates in facilities in remote locations where books are limited. This program has been very successful in promoting reading among Associates and their families.

Adopt-a-School Program

NatureSweet Associates in Mexico adopted 12 schools where they remodeled and improved existing facilities, built playgrounds and eating areas, donated furniture and more. These efforts benefited more than 3,000 students.
