San Antonio native will help spearhead efforts to expand the nonprofit’s Spanish language communication 

SAN ANTONIO, TX, January 30, 2023 — NatureSweet® is pleased to announce the appointment of Lori Castillo, the company’s vice-president of marketing, to Chair the Board of Directors for the statewide nonprofit, Texas Public Radio. 

TPR operates seven non-commercial radio stations that broadcast throughout Texas which are home to National Public Radio’s flagship news magazines “All Things Considered” and “Morning Edition.” TPR began by providing news services to underserved areas in Texas and has continued to serve these regions for more than three decades. 

Castillo, a San Antonio native, oversees global marketing for NatureSweet, a leading produce company that provides fresh, greenhouse-grown vegetables to major supermarket retailers throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Prior to joining the company in 2014, she worked for Proctor & Gamble where she helped build COVERGIRL Cosmetics into a $1 billion brand. Castillo was also a finance specialist at JPMorgan Chase for six years. She has served the South Texas community as a Foundation Board Member for Texas A&M University-San Antonio, a board member for the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the 42nd class of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership San Antonio program. Castillo also serves on the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo’s committee for Western Heritage Weekend, an event that celebrates the historic roots of Texas. 

Castillo earned her MBA from Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University and her Bachelor’s from Texas A&M University. Lori’s dedication to improving lives within her community and beyond earned her the title of “2016 Groundbreaking Associate of the Year” at NatureSweet, and in 2021, she was the first Latina to receive the The Ohio State “Alumni of Color Legacy Award.” She is the proud wife to Chris Castillo, the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at San Antonio southeast side’s- Highlands High School.
