Tips & Tricks

Sustainability

At NatureSweet, we plant our tomatoes in coconut husks which is much more sterile than growing in dirt. The water we use for ur crops is drawn from our own underground wells which are carefully monitored for purity. We use 58% less overall water than open field farms.

Tomatoes are (botanically) a fruit

When a new tax was levied in 1893 on imported vegetables, the debate on how to classify tomatoes made it all the way to the Supreme Court. It was ruled that the versatile tomato is culinarily (and taxably) a vegetable for its importance in everyday meals, and things haven’t changed since.

DontRefrigerate

Skip the Fridge

Tomatoes keep best when stored at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. They’ll store between five days to two weeks but are always best when eaten quickly.

Slicing Small Tomatoes

Lay your tomatoes beneath a flat plate, tray, or lid to easily slice a bunch horizontally at once.

Glorys rinse

Rinse in Pack

Give your tomatoes a quick rinse before slicing or eating. Many of our packages have small holes to act as a built-in colander for easy rinses in cool running water

Traceability

Look for the Food ID QR code underneath your packaging to trace your tomatoes right back to the greenhouse that grew and nurtured them.

Recycle

Our 10oz & 16.5oz packages are recyclable. Please recycle our packaging to give it a second (or third) life. All of our snacking tomato packages are sustainably made of 100% recycled Polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

Cherry vs Grape Tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes are typically round and slightly larger than grape tomatoes, which are typically oblong and slightly smaller. Cherry tomatoes have a sweeter taste than grape tomatoes which are more tangy and acidic.
